LA Dodgers Shohei Ohtani hit multiple hits and reached the 150-hit mark for the third consecutive year.

Ohtani played as a leadoff designated hitter in the home game against the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium on the 28th (Korea time) and scored two hits and one point in four at-bats. However, the Dodgers fell to their knees 2-3.

It was the first time in three days that Ohtani had two hits since the Tampa Bay Rays on the 25th. In the last six games, he has made four multi-hitters.

Ohtani's batting average for the season rose from 0.292 to 0.293 (150 hits in 511 at-bats), and he kept 41 homers and 40 steals intact. He has scored 101 points with 94 RBIs, an on-base percentage of 0.379, a slugging percentage of 0.614 and an OPS of 0.993. This marks the third consecutive year since 2022 that Ohtani has reached the 150-hit mark. Ohtani had 138 hits in 2021 when he crossed the regulation at-bats for the first time, 160 hits in 2022 and 151 hits in 2023, respectively. He has a career-high 831 hits.

Ohtani is the third Japanese player to continue 150 hits in the Major League for three consecutive years after Suzuki Ichiro and Matsui Hideki.

In his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning, Ohtani pulled a high sinker close to Baltimore left-hander Cole Irvin's first pitch of 90.1 miles and connected it with a hit that fell in front of right field. However, Mookie Betts hit a double play by the second baseman, and Ohtani was forced out of the second base.

When Baltimore scored the first run with Ryan O'Hearn's home run in the top of the second inning, the Dodgers quickly tied the score with Tommy Edman's left triple and Miguel Rojas' sacrifice fly to left field after one out in the bottom of the second inning.

And in his second at-bat after two outs in the third inning, when the score was tied 1-1, Ohtani hit a heavy hit. Again, he hit a 92.2-mile sinker on Irvin's first pitch, hitting a ball that penetrated between the shortstop and the second baseman. Ohtani, who advanced to second base with a walk by Mookie Betts, then homered when Teoscar Hernandez hit to left-center, turning the tide 2-1.

However, the Dodgers turned the tables 2-3 in the top of the fifth inning when starter Jack Fleherty hit a two-run homer from left to right by Ramon Urías.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Kike Hernandez's double and Chris Taylor's walk gave him a chance to hit the first and second bases with no outs, but Ohtani hit a fly ball to the third base, which cut the flow. Ohtani rolled up a 78.7-mile curve into Irvin's second pitch, but he missed it and rose high near the mound.

Betts and Theos also went on to back-to-back outfield flies, so the Dodgers couldn't take advantage of their golden opportunity.

Ohtani went out as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning, trailing 2-3, and bowed his head with a strikeout. Ohtani, who was cornered by strikes and fouls in two balls, looked at the sinker flying 95.3 miles outside the high strike zone on the fifth pitch of opponent left-hander Lionel Perez.

The Dodgers then made the scoring position with Betts' heavy hit and stolen base, but Teoscar and Will Smith struck out consecutively and failed to chase. The Dodgers had a chance in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and runners on first and second bases, but Chris Taylor hit a fly to left field and failed to take advantage of the opportunity again.

The Dodgers, which marked 78 wins and 54 losses, maintained three games of victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks (75 wins and 57 losses), who are second in the NL West. Arizona lost to the New York Mets 3-8 on the same day.
