Incheon appoints Choi Young-geun as the 12th head coach → Jeju away debut on the 10th
Incheon United announced on the 1st that it has newly appointed Choi Young-geun, who served as the team's head coach for three seasons from 2020 to 2022, as the 12th head coach. The contract period is until the 2025 season.

Incheon said it has reviewed various parts of the appointment of the new coach more carefully and closely than ever before. Incheon first used various soccer tactics through flexible thinking and cool-headed analysis, looking for candidates who value spirit and challenge rather than stability in the game. In addition, since it is the appointment of a coach in the middle of the season, the person who understands the current K-League trend and the strengths and weaknesses of Incheon players was considered first.

As a result, he gained strong trust from the team as Incheon's head coach and key tactician for the past three seasons. Incheon explained that it led the team's first Asian stage in the 2022 season, and its recent experience as a member of the Korea Professional Football Federation TSG (Technology Research Group) enables the analysis of tactics in the K-League and other teams.

Choi Young-geun, a graduate of Pohang Steel High School and Hanyang University, played professionally for the Hallelujah Football Team and Busan Daewoo Royals and entered the leadership path as the coach of Goyang High School in 2001. After serving as coach of Yeoju University, he served as coach of Changwon City Hall's soccer team in 2016. The following year, Changwon City Hall coach Park Hang-seo was appointed as the head coach of the Vietnamese national team, and he stood out as a leader, taking over as an acting head coach and leading the team to win the National Sports Festival.

Choi Young-geun, who gained professional experience by being appointed as a coach of Jeju United in 2019, was appointed as the head coach of the Incheon club in 2020 along with Cho Sung-hwan, who had a relationship with Jeju. As a head coach, he led the team's K League 1 survival, helped it stay stable early the following year, and achieved the team's first Asian Champions League (ACL) entry in 2022.

As a result, Incheon will reunite with coach Choi Young-geun, who left his position as the head coach at the end of the 2022 season, in two years. In addition, a new head coach was appointed a month after breaking up with coach Cho Sung-hwan on July 5. Choi Young-geun, the new coach, plans to start his coaching duties in earnest, such as conducting training with the team on the 1st.

Coach Choi Young-geun said, `We have a new challenge in Incheon, where we have good memories,' adding, `We will do our best with the existing coaching staff to help passionate Incheon fans play the soccer they want.'

Meanwhile, head coach Choi Young-geun is scheduled to make his head coach debut in an away game in the 26th round of the K League against Jeju United on the 10th.
