KFA announced on the 27th that Choi Young-il, vice chairman of the association, will chair the new power reinforcement committee. Chairman Choi Young-il participated in the 1994 U.S. World Cup and the 1998 France World Cup when he was a player, and served as the head of the Korean national team at the 2018 Russia World Cup.
The list of committees has also been redrawn. Six members are appointed to the newly formed committee. It consists of domestic and foreign soccer information experts, field leaders, and soccer administrators.
Han Joon-hee, vice chairman of the association, Hanyang University coach Chung Jae-kwon, K-League match supervisor Park Chul, former women's U-20 national team coach Hwang In-sun, FC Seoul scout Baek Jong-seok, and Jeonbuk Football Association executive director Yoo Jong-hee were appointed. The Korea Electric Power Reinforcement Committee will hold its first meeting at the Korea Football Center at 1 p.m. on the 28th.
The new power reinforcement committee's immediate task is to appoint a coach for the women's national team and a coach for the men's U-23 national team, which have been vacant since Colin Bell resigned. The women's national team is set to play a friendly A match in October, and the U-23 national team has to prepare for the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup, Nagoya Asian Games, and 2028 LA Olympics.
The period of activity of the Power Reinforcement Committee is until the end of the current executive branch's term in January next year.
