'Korea Diving Sign'U Ha-ram (26, Korea Sports Promotion Corporation) has reached the final round of the Olympics for the second consecutive time and is taking a big stride toward his first Olympic medal for Korean diving.
In the men's 3-meter springboard semifinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, held at the Aquatic Center in Paris, France on the 7th (Korea time), Woo Haram finished ninth with a total score of 432.00 and secured a ticket to the final, which was given up to 12th place. World-renowned diving stars such as Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Xie Xie Xie (China), Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Wang Jongyuan (China), Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Jack Rogger (UK), Osmar Olvera (Mexico), Jordan Holden (UK), Tyler Carson (US), Jules Buaye (France), Moritz Besseman (Germany), Luis Uribe (Colombia), and Curtis Matthews (Australia) also made it to the finals without any unexpected changes. The final round, which will determine the fate of the medal, will be held at 10 p.m. on the 8th.
This is Uharam's third Olympic bid. Woo Haram, who came in a surprise 11th place at the 2016 Rio Games, marked a new milestone in Korean diving by finishing fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There have been ups and downs over the past three years, including injuries and sluggishness, but he has regained his form like a ghost ahead of the Paris Games. He climbed the diving board in Paris to achieve his dream of 'Boy Uharam'. He has a tattoo of the Olympic flag on his back.
U Haram, who was desperate, made a high-level performance without hesitation at the Paris Games. In the preliminary round, Woo Ha-ram, who was ranked 12th overall with a total score of 389.10 and easily won the semi-final ticket, was not shaken in the semi-final.
Uharam started ninth with a score of 71.40 in the first period. In the second period, he fell to 12th place with 66.30 points, but in the third period, he showed a 3.8 high-level technique and jumped to 6th place with 79.80 points. In the fourth period, he ranked fourth with 78.75 points. Woo Haram, who scored 67.50 points in the fifth period, scored 68.25 points in the sixth period, giving him a total score of 432.00.
Wu Haram said earlier that `Although management has received more attention in Korean swimming recently, I will prove that diving can also receive enough attention in this Olympics.' He will take the diving board again on the 8th for the first Olympic medal in Korean diving history.
