'Bronze medal'Kim Woo Min!'I'm so happy for the medal! Next time, a higher place'

[Paris (France) = Egan Sports Chosun Dotcom reporter] Kim Woo-min (Gangwon Provincial Office) was already looking at the next Olympics.

Kim Woo-min won a bronze medal in the men's 400-meter freestyle at the Paris Olympics. He then reached the final in men's 800m relay for the first time in the Olympic team event.

Kim Woo-min held a press conference at the Korea House in Paris on the 5th. On this occasion, he said "I'm so happy to win the medal.' Even so, he pledged that `Although I did not achieve the medal color I aimed for, it is meaningful that this opportunity will be an opportunity to look higher in the next Olympics.'

◇ Q&A with Kim Woo-min

-How do you feel

▶I'm so happy to win a medal at the Paris Olympics. Although I couldn't get the medal color, which was my goal, this was a meaningful Olympics because it seemed to be an opportunity to look higher in the next Olympics.

-Did you enjoy Paris after the game

▶I went to see a boxing match yesterday. As I cheered hard, my throat hurt a little. I also saw the Eiffel Tower. I also went to the museum. I think you enjoyed it well. I want to go to Korea without regret.

-Was it a city of romance

▶I think it was definitely a romantic city.

-I took a picture with the players on social media yesterday

▶The picture was taken before the business competition. I took such a picture because I thought we wouldn't get together much if we all started playing together. It would have been nice if everyone had done well together when they saw such a post, but I was also disappointed to win a medal alone. I was disappointed because I didn't think my skills came out as much as I prepared hard.

-How did you train in Jincheon and how much time and training did you spend.

▶I swam about six times a week while preparing for the Paris Olympics. I did intense training about three times a week. Normally, it's about 14,000 to 5,000 meters. I swam for three hours during the hard training. I think those training have done well and have achieved good results.

-I said my bronze medal was the best of all the bronze medals

▶That's what I think. The bronze medal is all worth to me. I think all the athletes who won gold and silver medals are respectful medals.

-The reason I watched a boxing match is because

▶There was no such thing. I wanted to see the Korean player's game on the spot. I wanted to feel fresh to come to the Olympic Games and see other events. I actually watched a boxing match for the first time, and I was surprised because it was fast and strong.

-How did you overcome the crisis.

▶There was no crisis in preparation for the Paris Olympics. He grew up and trained well. I don't think there was any crisis.

-The 2022 record was 3:48.26. It rose by 6 seconds in 2 years. If you give advice to your juniors

▶A very difficult time can come while training. I came to this place because I moved my body hard thinking about my goals every time. Not everyone thinks it's impossible. I hope you don't give up until the end. There was no special mental training and I tried to live my daily life.

-I heard it was a big challenge when you failed the middle school qualifying round

▶At that time, I wanted to quit because the results were very bad. Even at that time, I worked hard in training, so it was a pity to stop. I kept going when I grew up loving swimming. As I got a good result and gained strength from it and was excited, I had a chance to participate in the Olympics. I saw and learned good things at the Olympics. I think I was stimulated and won a medal.

-There are many Korean sports, but why did I go boxing.

▶I wanted to watch badminton at first. I can't book badminton. I couldn't even book archery. (Kim Seo-young said she was close to Lim Ae-ji.) Seo-young looked for tickets and followed me because she wanted to see the Korean players play.

-Is there a reason why you chose him as your junior Hwang Sunwoo

▶When I see Hwang Sun-woo, I have a lot to learn from him personally, regardless of his junior. It was the best shock to see Hwang Seon-hu's performance at the Tokyo Olympics. That's why I became a player I respect. It was a shock that a Korean athlete made such an achievement on the Olympic stage.

-What was the difficult thing about this Olympics.

▶It's a shame that the members didn't get good grades. Still, I think there are many things to learn, so I'm looking forward to the next one.

-Los Angeles Olympic Goals

▶Since I won the bronze medal, I will aim for a silver medal or a gold medal. I will train hard and decide gradually. I'll maximize my strengths.

-Did it help you with training in Australia.

▶I think it helped me a lot.

-It is a burden to play a major tournament every year from 2022 to Paris. It's been a tight 3 years

▶My goal three years ago was the Paris Olympics. Before that, the Asian Games and the World Championships were a staircase for Paris. I've been busy with a lot of major tournaments, but I think the process is part of my training because of the Olympics. It wasn't a burden.

-What I want to do the most in Korea is

▶Before the Olympics, I thought that whatever I do, I should do something radical after the Olympics. There's nothing to do now that the Olympics are over. I just want to take a break, so I want to take a break. (When do I go back to the water?) I'm thinking about a week or two. After that, you have to raise your body while preparing for the competition and other competitions.

-What's your goal?

▶ When I look at the next Olympics or world championships, I have to reduce it a little more in my record. I will swim hard with a goal of 41 or 40 seconds. If such a record comes out, I think a new Korean record will follow.

-Do you want to keep going long distances

▶You have to do long distances at the same time because you continue to do freestyle 400. I'll keep doing it because I have to keep playing 800 and 1500 so I can show you a good performance in the 400.

-My goal as a relay member is

▶He broke the Asian record at the Asian Games. That's when I feel good. I want to break the new records of those members. I think I will be able to wake up if such a scene comes out again.

-How did you feel watching the swimming game yesterday?

▶Pique broke the world record, which was almost broken before, but not broken. I got goosebumps watching the last spurt like that yesterday.

-The player who impressed me during this competition

▶China's Fan Zanlao was so impressive. I watched all the games from start to finish. I thought Leon was amazing. It was a huge shock that Panzanler went down a path that Leon couldn't.

-Panzanler bumped into each other

▶It is surprising that the Asian player set a world record by shortening so many records. I can't keep up, but I thought I wanted to.
