Raise the leader of the 'GLOBAL KOVO' Conducting coaching training, participating in FIVB coaching course

The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) is striving to foster leaders to strengthen its international competitiveness.

From July 8 to 26, the federation selected one leader from each of the men's and women's divisions who wished to train overseas to improve coaching skills and strengthen their capabilities through document screening and interviews.

The final successful candidates were Kwon Joon-hyung, who debuted at LIG Insurance in the 2011-2012 season and retired from OK Financial Group in the 2022-2023 season, and Choi Seok-ki, who debuted at KEPCO45 in the 2008-2009 season and retired from Woori Card in the 2023-2024 season.

The two leaders plan to conduct overseas training in Japan and are currently coordinating details such as the club to join, training period, and activities. The federation will provide air tickets and stay expenses to the two coaches who are going on overseas training.

Meanwhile, the Federation encouraged V-League leaders to participate in the '2024 FIVB Coach Course Level 1' held at Namseoul University and Hyundai Capital Castle of Skywalkers from July 27 to 31, hosted by the Korea Volleyball Association, allowing 20 V-League players, coaches to complete FIVB Coach Level 1 qualifications.

FIVB Coach Course Level 1 consisted of basic theories and practical skills for volleyball guidance, and writing and practical tests, and education on teaching methods and international volleyball trends was conducted. FIVB coaching courses range from level 1 to level 3, which is an advanced course dealing with the basics.

The federation will make more efforts to foster leaders at the level of advanced leagues and will continue to support overseas training and participation in FIVB coaching courses.
