Samsung Lions Kang Min-ho (39) has rejuvenated perfectly.

For the first time in 21 years since his debut, he won the monthly MVP award. The joy is doubled as it was the result of beating the league's best superstar, KIA Tigers Kim Do-young, who is heading for the MVP of the season.

Kang Min-ho received 14 out of 25 votes (56.0%) and 125,997 (24.5%) out of 514,874 fan votes, scoring a total of 40.24 points and being selected as the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League's monthly MVP in July.

It beat KIA Kim Do-young, who finished second with a total score of 37.56 points with 7 reporters' votes and 242,659 fan votes.

Kim Do-young was only half of Kang Min-ho in the press corps vote, but she chased the first place with nearly twice as many votes in the fan vote, but failed to overturn it.

Kang Min-ho in July was amazing.

Beyond rejuvenation, the expression "crazy" fits well. In July alone, he hit 11 home runs to rank No. 1 in the home run category, with a batting average of 0.408 (third), 26 RBIs (first), and a slugging percentage of 0.868 (first).

Despite being the catcher who sweats the most, Kang Min-ho was a veteran, taking charge of the center of the team's lineup. Ruben Cardenas is keeping the center of the lineup without Koo Ja-wook, Kim Young-woong, and Lee Sung-kyu in August.

Thanks to Kang Min-ho's performance, Samsung is ranked first in the team's home run as of the 8th.

Kang Min-ho's current voting method (journalists + fan voting), which was newly introduced in 2018, is Samsung's first catcher's monthly MVP award. Samsung's monthly MVP award came in three years since Baek Jung-hyun in July-August 2021.

Kang Min-ho, who was selected as MVP in July, will be given a trophy along with 2 million won in prize money, and 2 million won in donations will be delivered to Pohang Steel Middle School, Kang Min-ho's alma mater, under the name of the player with the support of Shinhan Bank.
