South Korean badminton national team Kim Won-ho and Jung Na-eun are regretful after losing to China's Zheng Thiwei-Hwangtung Cho in the mixed doubles final of the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Port de la Chappelle Stadium in Paris, France on the 2nd (Korea time).

Kim and Jung-jo defeated Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life Insurance) and Chae Yoo-jeong (Incheon International Airport) 2-1 (21-16 20-22 23-21) in the semifinal the previous day to reach the final. In the final, they faced the 'world's No. 1' Chinese group, but they had a big difference in skills. The confrontation between Lee Won-ho, born in 1999, and Jung Na-eun, born in 2000, with the best record of the 2023 World Championship quarterfinals against the 2018, 2019 and 2022 World Championship Mixed Doubles Champions Group was a big meaning in itself. Korea's badminton has only won one bronze medal in the past three Olympics. Kim Won-ho and Jung Na-eun-jo have changed their medal color for the first time in 16 years since Beijing in 2008.

After the silver medal, Kim Won-ho made headlines as an Olympic medalist for hats. As is well known, Kim Won-ho is the son of Samsung Life Insurance coach Gil Young-ah, a gold medalist in mixed doubles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In a press conference after the silver medal, Kim Won-ho said, `I dreamed of the Olympics while watching my mom from an early age. I was greedy to win a hat gold medal, but my opponent was too strong", he expressed his regret.

Jung Na-eun honored her mother, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, with tears. It was the first face that came to mind when I was happy about becoming an Olympic silver medalist. "My name saved on my mom's phone was 'Olympic gold medalist Jung Na Eun"," he said with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry I couldn't keep my gold medal promise, but I feel good because I think my mom will be proud."

The Korean team initially expected more medals from world No. 2 Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jung in the badminton mixed doubles. Contrary to expectations, the junior group brought a valuable silver medal amid a rebellion that exceeded the senior group. Kim Won-ho said, `It's an honor just to participate in the Olympics, but I didn't expect the result to be like this. I'm happy that the good results came out." Jung Na-eun also said, `I really didn't think we would win a silver medal like this because we had a hard time coming up from the preliminaries. I want to enjoy the present moment."
