'Hope of Korean Women's Modern pentathlon' Sung Seung-min (21, Hankook University) became the first Asian female athlete to win the Olympic modern pentathlon podium.

Sung Seung-min won the bronze medal in the women's final of the modern pentathlon at the Paris Olympics held at the Versailles Palace in France on the 11th with a total of 1,441 points in fencing, horseback riding, swimming, and laser runs (land and shooting) after Michel Guyassi (1461 points) and Elodie Clouvel (1452 points in France). It is the first Olympic medal in the history of Korean women's modern pentathlon and the first feat for an Asian woman.

Sung Seung-min, who became the first Korean woman to win the individual competition at the World Championships in June and ranked No. 1 in the world rankings, made a new history by showing her unwavering skills in her first Olympics. Sung, who was 225 points and 8th in the fencing round on Saturday, jumped to the third place (525 points) by scoring a perfect score of 300 in the first event of the day. In the fencing bonus round, he lost additional points and fell to fifth place (525 points), but as a former swimmer, he added 288 points by taking a touchpad in the main 200m freestyle with 2:11:47 and second overall, and rose to third place (813 points) with one last event, Layzer (shooting + track and field).
