South Korea's Sepak Takraw national team left Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 on the 19th to participate in the 2024 World Sepak Takraw Championship.
The Sepak Takraw World Championships will be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from September 1-9.
The World Sepak Takraw Championship is an international competition with the highest authority in Sepak Takraw, which has been maintained 37 times since it was held in 1985.
The Korea Sepak Takraw Association said "The Sepak Takraw national team has consistently recorded good performance in this competition, including the men's quad win in 2022, the women's legu win in 2023, and the women's legu runner-up. We are also looking forward to doing well in this competition." he said.
Kim Do-young, Lee Joon-wook (Gyeongnam Sports Council), Kim Se-young (Chungnam Sports Council), Seo Seung-beom (Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Sports Council), and Chung Ju-seung (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall) joined the competition through the national team selection match held in July.
Oh Joo-young, president of the Korea Sepak Takraw Association, said "Our national team will not only show excellent performance in Thailand, but also enhance the honor of Korea's Sepak Takraw through participation in this tournament, and furthermore, we have prepared both sides so that the team can successfully complete the tournament and return home without any inconvenience. We will also visit the site during the tournament to empower the team."
Park Kwang-soo, the coach of the men's national team, said, `We will see the fruits of the sweat that the national team has shed so far by doing its best to show the best performance.'

Through participation in the domestic competition and ISTAAF Sepak Takraw World Cup held this year, the players have continued to grow and work together. In addition, intensive training was conducted in Korea with the aim of winning a number of gold medals at the World Championships.
Meanwhile, the national team will participate in team events, quad events, and mixed-leg events and compete with Sepaktakraw powers such as Thailand and Vietnam.
The national team will participate in the tournament after a two-week off-season and adaptation training before the tournament.
