Kicking, yap!
'Taekwon Shinseong' Park Tae-joon (20, Kyung Hee University) got the first step in the taekwondo event at the Paris Olympics.

Park Tae-joon (5th in the world) reached the quarterfinals by beating Venezuela's Johandri Granado (29th in the world) 2-0 in the men's 58kg taekwondo round of 16 at the Paris Olympics held in Grand Palais, Paris on the 7th (Korea time).

It was a landslide victory of 12-0 in the first round and 12-0 in the second round. At 9:40 p.m. on the day, Park Tae-joon will compete against host country France's Sirian Ravel (11th in the world) in the semifinals. Park Tae-joon, who won his first Taegeuk mark in 2022 while attending Hanseong High School, caused a stir by winning the right to participate in the Paris Olympics, beating world No. 3 Jang Jun in the Olympic trials in February.

Tae-jun Park is trying to win four consecutive medals and his first-ever gold medal in this event, where Daejeon City Hall coach Lee Dae-hoon won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, Kim Tae-hoon won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and Jang Joon won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
