Doosan won the away game against the Samsung Lions 5-2 at Pohang Baseball Stadium on the 21st. Doosan escaped its second straight loss and secured its 62nd win (two draws and 57 losses) of the season.

Amid the pitching staff's good pitching, the batters did not miss the chance and grabbed the victory.

On this day, Doosan kept the mound as starting pitcher Choi Won-joon allowed eight hits (one homer) with three strikeouts and two runs in five innings.

Choi Won-joon, who struck out and caught with a fly ball in the first inning, allowed Lee Jae-hyun to hit a home run after being hit by Diaz in the second inning. He got off to a shaky start by allowing two runs, but he kept the mound by throwing a total of 89 pitches until the fifth inning.

While Choi Won-joon was on the mound, Doosan's batters scored five runs until the top of the sixth inning.

Following Choi Won-joon, Hong Gun-hee (1 scoreless inning), Lee Byung-hun (1 scoreless inning), Choi Ji-gang (1 scoreless inning), and Kim Taek-yeon (1 scoreless inning) erased the remaining innings without allowing a score.

After the game, Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop was the first to mention starting pitcher Choi Won-joon. He played as a 'original ace' with double-digit wins in 2020 and 2021, but he has not been seen since then. Choi Won-joon, who became the winning pitcher with three runs in five ⅔ innings against the Hanwha Eagles on June 13, has not been able to add a victory as he has not been helped by the batters even in the game where he played more than five innings well. With this victory, Choi Won-joon earned his fifth win of the season in 69 days.

Manager Lee said "Starting Choi Won-joon did his part. In the meantime, I've thrown well but went down the mound early due to the team's circumstances, but today I've minimized the number of runs with very efficient pitching."

Coach Lee continued "Hong Gun-hee, Lee Byung-hun, Choi Ji-gang, and Kim Taek-yeon, who took the mound afterwards, also pitched perfectly." he said.

He also continued to praise the batters. Manager Lee said, "Jared's home run hit in the batter's box could change the atmosphere. In the fifth inning, two veteran batters Kim Jae-hwan and Kim Jae-ho persistently cut after 2S, succeeding in getting on base and creating chances. Kim Jae-hwan also hit a valuable solo home run in the sixth inning."

Doosan and Samsung, which recorded one win and one loss each at Pohang, predicted Keisho Shirakawa (Doosan) and Hwang Dong-jae (Samsung) as starting pitchers on the 22nd, respectively.
