Indonesian national team center back Jay Eze (24, Venice) has written a new history of Southeast Asian soccer.

Izeth started the second round of Serie A in 2024-2025 with Fiorentina on the 26th (Korea time) and spent 68 minutes on the ground until he was replaced by Michael Svoboda in the 23rd minute of the second half. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Ezzy, who was excluded from the opening game, became the first Indonesian to make his Serie A debut in the 'European Big League' Serie A league. He is also the first from Southeast Asia. Previously, players from Japan, South Korea, Australia, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Iran and North Korea have been on the Serie A stage.

According to the Indonesian Football Association, Izzy wants to "make Indonesia's name even higher in the world" after the game."

Ezzy is a Dutch native who played for the prestigious PSV Eindhoven Youth Team. He made his professional debut in the second part of Eindhoven (*a different team from PSV) in 2018 and built his skills with the Go Ahead Eagles from 2020 to 2023.

In 2023, he moved to Venice, Italy, and led his team to Serie A promotion by scoring three goals in 26 games as a key defender.

Izeth, whose mother is of Indonesian descent, joined the national team in December 2023 with Indonesian citizenship. Shin Tae-yong, head coach of the Indonesian national team, is upgrading the national team's power by naturalizing Indonesian players who were born and raised abroad boldly after taking office.

Izeth, a 90-meter-tall center back, failed to participate in the Qatar Asian Cup held in January-February due to registration issues, but made his national debut in March through Vietnam and the 2026 North-China World Cup qualifiers. So far, he has scored one goal in three A matches.

However, Iz*se was replaced in the second half due to a muscle injury, drawing concerns from Indonesian soccer fans. He reassured his fans that it was not serious. Shin will play the first and second rounds of the final qualifying round against Saudi Arabia (away) on September 6 and Australia (home) on September 10.
