New York Yankees Juan Soto and Aaron Judge showed off their strongest duo ever by launching home runs side by side. However, the Yankees lost 5-9 in overtime.

In a home game against the Cleveland Guardians at Yankee Stadium on the 21st (Korea time), Soto and Judge hit a back-to-back home run in the bottom of the first inning.

After one out, Soto pulled a changeup in the middle of Yankees starter Matthew Boyd's fifth pitch 83 miles and hit the right fence on a line drive in 2B2S. He hit his 35th home run of the season with a launch angle of 24 degrees, a batting speed of 97.5 miles and a driving distance of 340 feet. This tied Soto's record for most home runs in a single season set by the San Diego Padres last year.

The next batter, Judge, pushed Boyd's fifth-pitch sinker at 3B1S for a 93.5-mile solo shot over the right-center fence. The 45th arch of the season, with a launch angle of 36 degrees, a batting speed of 102.1 miles and a distance of 372 feet. Judge, the combined home run leader in both leagues, widened the gap with Shohei Ohtani (39) of the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers to six.

It was the 17th time this season that Judge hit a home run in the first inning, breaking Babe Ruth's club record in 1927. It is the ninth time this season that the Yankees' lineup has hit a back-to-back home run since Judge and Austin Wells hit them in the eighth inning against the Chicago White Sox on the 15th.

In addition, Soto and Judge hit back-to-back home runs for the fifth time this season, tied for second place in the club's history. In 2009, Johnny Damon and Mark Teshaira hit six back-to-back home runs to set a club record in this category, and the Soto-Jersey duo was the fourth after Ruth-Lou Gehrig in 1927, Gerick-Joe DiMaggio in 1936, and Gary Shephill-Alex Rodriguez in 2005.

MLB.com commented that the "Juan Soto and Aaron Judge duo showed off their muscles by hitting a back-to-back home run against Guardians left-hander Matthew Boyd at Yankee Stadium.

However, the game didn't go the way the Yankees wanted it to. After scoring two runs in the first inning, he was pressed by the Cleveland mound and scored only one extra point, eventually leading to an extra game.

Cleveland turned the tide 3-2 in the top of the second inning, with one out and runners on the first and third bases, with one point due to Bo Naylor's groundout, one point due to Daniel Schniman's timely hit in the third inning, and one point due to Brian Locchio's solo home run to the middle wall in the fourth inning.

After the lead Jose Trevino's walk in the bottom of the fourth inning, Anthony Volpi hit a double to left-center and added one run to balance it again 3-3.

The game was decided in the 12th inning. Cleveland took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 12th inning with no outs and a runner on second base, Lane Thomas' double to right. With the Yankees replacing the pitcher from Tim Meijah to Michael Tonkin with one out and runners on the first and third bases, Cleveland's batters exploded like hot water. Following Jose Ramirez's timely hit, David Fry, with one out and a bases loaded with Tyler Freeman's walk, called in all three players when he hit a triple that separated the right-center, and added one more point with Yoankensi Noel's infield hit to escape 9-3.

The Yankees recovered only two runs with Judge's double in the bottom of the 12th inning with one out and runners on the first and second bases. The Yankees, who lost three consecutive games, marked 73 wins and 53 losses and lost the top spot in the AL East to the Baltimore Orioles (74 wins and 53 losses). On the other hand, Cleveland, the No. 1 player in the Central Division, which lost three consecutive games, regained the No. 1 spot in the AL with 73 wins and 52 losses.

Soto went 1 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored, and Judge went 2 for 5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Judge hit .332, 45 homers, 114 RBIs, 97 runs scored, and 1.172 OPS.
