Lotte manager Kim Tae-hyung announced on the 28th that he will start Reyes as the second designated hitter in the match against KIA at Sajik Stadium in Busan. He said "He says it's okay to defend because he doesn't have a bad balance, but he looks heavy" and "We can't help but be conscious of the record of 200 hits. When the ball comes into view, I try to do it actively, but shouldn't the result come out well?"
Reyes is batting .353 (199 hits in 564 at-bats) with 15 homers and 109 RBIs in 142 games this season, and OPS (on-base plus slugging) is 0.909. He has recorded hits in the last four consecutive games, approaching the 200-hit mark. If three hits are added in the remaining two games, including the match against KIA, it will exceed the KBO league record (201) set by Seo Geon-chang (current KIA), who was a member of the Heroes in the 2014 season.
Coach Kim will start Hwang Sung-bin (center fielder), Reyes (designated hitter), Ko Seung-min (second baseman), Son Ho-young (third baseman), Jeon Joon-woo (left fielder), Na Seung-yeop (first baseman), Yoon Dong-hee (right fielder), Park Seung-wook (striker) and Information Geun (catcher) on the day. Charlie Barnes starts.
