According to sports broadcasters 'ESPN', Suarez plans to announce his retirement from the national team through an official press conference on the 3rd (Korea time). It is expected that the retirement ceremony will be held on the 6th through a home match against Paraguay in the 2026 North American World Cup South American qualifying round.
Suarez made his national team debut in February 2007 against Colombia, scoring 69 goals in 142 A matches over 17 years. The number of A-match games is the second after Diego Godin (161 games, retired), and the number one overall score. "Spirit partner" Edinson Cavani (58 goals, retired) is 11 goals behind." Since there are no active players among the top 10 players, Suarez's record is likely not to be broken for the time being.
Suarez was at the center of the issue as much as his outstanding skills. In the 2010 South African World Cup quarter-final match against Ghana, he blocked the ball towards the goal with his hands. It was an instinctive act to prevent a run. Ghana striker Asamoah Gian missed the penalty kick, and Uruguay eventually advanced to the semifinals with a penalty shootout, making it a `hand of God.' He defended his actions as `the best defense in the competition.'

Suarez gave Uruguayans great joy by winning the Copa America in 2011. It was the first achievement in 16 years since the 1995 competition.
Suarez started his professional career with Uruguay's Nacional in 2005 and became one of the world's top goalscorers through Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. He led Barcelona's treble with Lionel Messi in 2015.
In the 2015-2016 season, when 'Menaldo' was dominant, he scored 40 goals in La Liga and won the top scorer.
Suarez, who returned to his former team Nacional in 2022, is in the twilight of his career in Inter Miami, where Messi was involved this year after playing for Gremio, Brazil. So far, he has scored 16 goals in 20 matches in the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS).
