The era of $70 million a year has arrived.

Along with Nikola Jokic, NBA's biggest man Joel Embiid signed an extension with Philadelphia.

Local media such as ESPN and CBS Sports agreed on the 21st (Korea time) 'Joel Embiid and Philadelphia to extend the contract. The extended contract period is three years and the total contract is $192.9 million. Maximum Contracts' reported.

Embiid will play in the Philadelphia jersey from 2028-2029 season.

Initially, Embiid had a three-year contract left. Embiid, who will receive about $51.5 million in the 2024-2025 season, is second in the overall salary ranking. Player options were included along with an annual salary of $55 million and about $59 million in the 2026-2027 season, the final season of the contract.

The player option is for the player to determine FA qualifications. It's an option to stay on the team or leave with FA qualification.

Philadelphia excluded player options from its existing three-year contract. In the end, the extension contract period was three years. Embiid, which will receive $64.3 million in the 2027-2028 season, will receive an astronomical amount of $69 million (about 93 billion won) in the 2028-2029 season.

There were two previous players who were close to $70 million. Yannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis will receive about $67 million in the 2027-2028 season.

Embiid is Philadelphia's absolute ace. He won the seven-time All-Star scoring title and the regular league MVP award.
