Austin received 12 (40.0%) of 30 press corps votes and 89,233 (18.1%) of 492,406 fan votes, winning a total of 29.06 points, beating KIA James Nail, who finished second with three press corps votes, 183,367 fan votes, and 23.62 points in total.
It is the first time in about a year since Park Dong-won in May last year, and the first time in about five years since Peguero in September 2019 as an LG foreign hitter. Austin, who was selected as MVP in August, will receive a trophy along with 2 million won in prize money.
At bat in August, Austin was a terror to pitchers due to his high slugging percentage. He had nine homers in a month, including three games in which he had multiple homers, and made half of his 36 hits long balls with eight doubles and one triple.
Most of the major batting indicators were ranked in the rankings. He tied for first in home runs, 35 RBIs (1st), a slugging percentage of 0.745 (1st), an OPS of 1.160 (1st), and 36 hits (3rd), showing an overwhelming batting performance. In addition, he recorded 30 home runs and 100 RBIs for the season against Kiwoom in Gocheok on August 24, making it the first LG foreign hitter record.
With the August frenzy, Austin is taking on a new history as an LG hitter. He recorded 121 RBIs until the 9th, surpassing 119 RBIs (2018 Chae Eun-sung and 2020 Kim Hyun-soo), which were the most RBIs in LG's batter season ever. Austin, who currently ranks first in RBIs, is also approaching the first RBI king by an LG player. He is a comfortable leader with 12 differences from second-ranked NC Dinos Matt Davidson (109 RBIs).
