An Arsenal-born soccer star is on the verge of ending his soccer career on drug smuggling charges.

Emmanuel Thomas (33) is currently under investigation by authorities on drug smuggling and transportation charges, according to British media such as the 20th (Korea Standard Time).

Thomas is from Arsenal and played for the Scottish Championship (Second Division) Greenock Morton FC.

Thomas is accused of possessing a bag containing 10 billion won worth of cannabis and other drugs at London Stansted International Airport while returning to the UK from Bangkok on the 2nd.

The border guard reportedly found about 60 kilograms of cannabis in one of Thomas' bags while searching for two suitcases he had been carrying as cargo when boarding in Bangkok.

As a result, the National Crime Agency (NCA) dispatched an investigator and arrested Thomas urgently, and two women who accompanied Thomas were also investigated by authorities.

The two women, ages 28 and 32, are being investigated on bail in a competent court and remain in limbo, but Thomas' bail application has been rejected, it said. This means that Thomas' drug-related charges are severe.

Drug-related crimes have not been confirmed, with Thomas denying the allegations, as it is still in the early stages of the investigation, but one unsavory incident is expected to end his life as a soccer player.

His team, Greenock Morton, announced on the club's official channel that the contract was terminated and released. The Club may confirm that Thomas' contract has been terminated immediately. Our club will not comment further on this matter,' he said, announcing a 's loss' with Thomas.

Thomas is a midfielder who was recognized for his potential by manager Arsen Wenger when he was a prospect and has given Arsenal a win in the FA Youth Cup with Jack Wilshire. However, he did not grow as much as expected as he made his debut as an adult, so he moved around several lower league teams before joining Greenock Morton on a six-month contract in July.
