Welcome news has been delivered to the shooting of the 'Hyoja event', which proved the power of K-sports at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. Daegu International Shooting Range will be transformed into a barrier-free stadium for both disabled and non-disabled athletes and an international shooting range that can attract the World Championships.

According to Rep. Kim Seung-soo (Power of the People, Buk-gu, Daegu) on the 29th, the Daegu International Shooting Range Facility Improvement Project was finally selected as the target for the 2025 Living Sports Facility Expansion Support Project, a public offering project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Representative Kim said, "There has long been a steady demand in the community that Daegu International Shooting Range facilities should be supplemented in accordance with international standards to enable international competitions." and secured 13.3 billion won in state funds (700 million won in 2025 and 6.3 billion won each from 2026 to 2027) out of 19 billion won in the total budget for facility reinforcement to renovate and repair convenience facilities for the disabled and attract international shooting competitions" he said. "This provided a facility where anyone could easily access fire regardless of disability by reinforcing additional facilities such as one complex firing range and one clay shooting range, and significantly improving convenience facilities for the disabled such as training spaces, experience spaces, access roads, and toilets."

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected the National Sports Promotion Fund from 2015 to support the installation of convenience facilities for the disabled in public sports facilities, strengthening safety facilities, and improving old facilities so that anyone can participate in sports activities safely and comfortably. The Daegu International Shooting Range was built in 2008 with a total floor area of 178,000 square meters (53,880 pyeong) and was equipped with various sports activities such as training facilities and experience spaces so that all elite athletes and ordinary citizens could use it.

However, problems such as traffic accessibility and lack of convenience facilities for the disabled have been steadily raised, pointing out that it is a half-sized facility that cannot hold large-scale international shooting competitions due to the lack of a final shooting range of 25m and 50m international courses.
