But Barnes did not fall. Ahead of Liverpool's second home game, he turned into a store assistant and met with fans to revitalize Ladbrokes' marketing.



Fans recognized Barnes and asked for photos and autographs. Barnes was willing to communicate with fans and promote Liverpool and Ladbrokes. He decided to draw a lottery for fans who met him and give two tickets to the weekend's Anfield home game against Nottingham Forest as a gift.

Barnes' transformation comes after Ladbrokes became Liverpool's official betting partner this season. Patricia Lewis, the store manager at Ladbrokes Mill Lane, said "As a big Liverpool fan, it was great to have Barnes with me this morning. Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apaty said "John Barnes helping the Ladbrokes in Mill Lane was really cool. His car-making skills were a bit dubious, but it certainly gave our customers an unexpected surprise", he explained.
