Reyes played as the second designated hitter against the KIA Tigers at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 28th and hit a hit to right-center against Yoon Young-chul with one out in the bottom of the third inning when the score was 0-0.
With this hit, Reyes became the second main character of the record after Seo Geon-chang (current KIA), who reached the 200-hit mark for the Heroes in the 2014 season. When limited to foreign players, Jose Miguel Fernandez succeeded in surpassing the record of 199 hits in a single season set by Doosan.
Reyes, who signed a contract with Lotte for a total of $950,000 ahead of this season, played for the Detroit Tigers in the U.S. Major League Baseball until last year. It was expected to quench Lotte's thirst with a switch-type batter.
Reyes played in all 142 games before the game, batting .353 (199 hits in 564 at-bats) with 15 homers and 109 RBIs and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 0.909. The number of home runs is somewhat sagging, but he served as a troubleshooter for Lotte's batters by producing RBIs at every crisis.
