The "Seven Select Young Player of the Month" award is given to the "Young Player of the Month" who performed best in K League 1 every month. The conditions for candidates are Korean nationality among K League 1 players, under the age of 23 (born after 2001) and three years or less from the year they made their first appearance in K League official games (debut after the 2022 season). Players who meet the above three conditions and participate in more than half of the total game time of the team in the relevant month shall be the candidates. Among them, the final winner will be determined through discussions and voting by members of the Technical Research Group (TSG) under the Federation's Technical Committee.
The Young Player Award in August was evaluated for a total of three games from the 26th to 28th rounds of the K League 1 held in August, and a total of 11 candidates, including Hwang Jae-won, Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon), Choi Woo-jin (Incheon), and Hong Yoon-sang (Pohang), were nominated.
Hwang Jae-won started against Gimcheon in the 27th round of the K League 1 and showed a solid defense to lead Daegu to a 3-0 victory, and in the 28th round against Pohang, he scored a man-made goal this season, contributing to Daegu's 2-1 victory. Hwang Jae-won was selected as the MOM of the match against Pohang and was also named as the best 11 in the round. Hwang Jae-won earned the most votes from the federation's TSG members, contributing to his team's rise, with Daegu winning back-to-back games in August.
With this award, Hwang Jae-won was honored to be named Young Player of the Month for three consecutive seasons, following May 2022 and May 2023. The prize money will be delivered to Hwang Jae-won in August 'Seven Select Young Player of the Month' ahead of the Daegu-Seoul match to be held at DGB Daegu Bank Park on the 21st.
