World-class defender Raphael Varane has announced his retirement from active duty.

Varane posted about his retirement announcement on his personal SNS on the 25th (Korea Standard Time), saying, `There must be an end to every good thing.'

Raphael Varane is a world-class defender who played for Real from the 2020-2021 season and had tremendous moments, including four European Champions League wins, three La Liga wins and four Club World Cup wins.

From the moment he first joined Real in 2011, Varane's talent stood out. When he played for Real in earnest, Varane's defense was not inferior to any center back in the world. It was rather overwhelming. His excellent sense, speed, ability to cover using his long legs, and amazing talent, including passes, pushed him to the center of the Real defense. The same was true of the French national team. Varane, along with Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kante, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, was a leading player in the French national team's victory.

There was also a break-up with Real. Varane, who was struggling with repeated injuries, headed to the English Premier League (EPL). Manchester United reached out. Since joining Manchester United, expectations for Varane have been enormous. Varane performed well to meet the fans' expectations in the game, but his gradually dull body and lingering injuries hampered him. In the end, Varane left Manchester United this summer and the Italian Serie A promotion team moved to Comoros, choosing to challenge himself as a veteran.

However, Varane's Como debut was not successful. Varane, who suffered a knee injury on his Como debut, began contemplating retirement with the news that he would not be able to play for several months. And in the end, he decided to leave the side of the ground he loved.

Varane says "I've had a lot of challenges in my career, and I've overcome moments when almost everything seemed impossible. Amazing emotions, special moments, memorable memories for the rest of your life. Looking back at these moments, I feel tremendous pride and accomplishment to announce my retirement from the game we all love."

He said "I'm putting myself on top of the table, and I don't just hold on to the game, I want to go out strong. It takes great courage to listen to your mind and instincts. Desire and desire are different things. I've fallen and stood up thousands of times, and this time I think it's the moment to win the trophy in the last game at Wembley and walk the football boots", he said, explaining why he decided to retire.

He also said of his active days "I loved fighting for fans of me, my club, my country, my teammates, and all the teams I played with. Even playing in Reims, Madrid, Manchester, and the national team. I kept everything I had, and I loved every minute of the journey. A game at the highest level is a thrilling experience. It tests everything in the body and mind. The emotions we experience are nowhere else to be found. As an athlete, I am never satisfied and do not accept success. That's our nature and the driving force that drives us around..." he recalled of his active days.

He never reversed his retirement and did not hide his intention to leave peacefully. Varane said "I have no regrets and I will not change anything. Although he has won so many championships that he could not dream of, I am proud that he has tried to leave a better appearance, sticking to the principle of being sincere no matter what, regardless of honor and trophy. I hope I was proud of you all. Now a new life begins outside the stadium. I'll stay in Como. It's not just football boots and shin guards. I look forward to delivering more news soon," he said, explaining that he would spend more time in Como.

Finally "Fans, teammates, coaches, staff of all the clubs I played for now. I sincerely thank everyone for making this journey more special than my dream. Thank you, football," he said, ending his retirement declaration.

Varane, who has announced his retirement from active duty, is expected to take on another role at Como. Como is currently joined by several veteran players and is led by a young coach named Cesc Fabregas, so Varane's help may be fully needed.

The world-famous defender announced his retirement at an early age. It's the last thing that can be a little disappointing, but Varane revealed that he didn't have any lingering feelings left in his mind. I was able to decide to retire with a bigger smile because I had more time to play hard and be proud of than anyone else.
