Seongnam club appointed Jeon Kyung-joon as its new coach in the morning of the 11th. We plan to strengthen the team's organizational power for the rest of the season and lay the groundwork for Seongnam FC's long-term growth,' he announced.
Jeon Kyung-joon, the new coach, is a veteran player who played in 287 K-League games and was evaluated as the right person to be with the club based on more than 10 years of leadership experience.
Until just before his appointment, he served as the technical chairman of the Korean Professional Football Federation, served as the national team by age since 2012, and participated in the 21st World Cup in Russia as the coach of the Korean national team in 2018. Since then, he has led the K League 2 Jeonnam Dragons (hereinafter referred to as Jeonnam) since the 2019 season.
Jeon, who took over as acting manager of Jeollanam-do in 2019, recorded seven wins, five draws and three losses in the remaining 15 games of that year, and ranked the team sixth in the K League after being appointed as an official coach in the 2020 season. In particular, in 2021, he recorded 13 wins, 14 draws, and 10 losses in 37 league games, achieving fourth place in the K League 2, and at the same time leading to the first FA Cup victory in the K League 2.
Jeon Kyung-joon, the new coach, said, `We will do our best to make a leap forward for Seongnam FC, a prestigious club. The team's quick stabilization comes first, and I'll make a team that I'm proud of for my fans" expressed his aspirations.
Meanwhile, Seongnam FC is looking forward to rebuilding the team and making a leap forward with the appointment of coach Jeon Kyung-joon. Coach Jeon will play his first official game since taking office at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd at home in the 31st round of the K League 2 against Suwon Samsung.
