Jeju has signed an unusual long-term contract with Kim Dong-joon (30), the main goalkeeper.

Jeju announced Kim Dong-joon's renewal ahead of the 29th round home game against Gimcheon at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on the 1st. Kim Dong-joon took a picture of 'Official' with a uniform marked '2029'. 2029 means that the contract period has been extended by five years until 2029.

Kim Dong-joon, who joined Jeju in 2022 after passing Seongnam Daejeon, said "I didn't have much trouble about re-signing. This is because there were clubs, coaching staff and colleagues who always sent me faith and trust. Now we have to repay them with a better performance."

Jeju says "Kim Dong-joon is proving his unchanging class this season with his skills. He is also showing extraordinary leadership. In the game without captain Lim Chae-min, he wore the captain's armband and even played a central role in the team inside and outside the stadium"This is why Jeju highly values Kim Dong-joon along with the strong trust of renewing the contract," he said, explaining the background of the contract.

Kim Dong-joon is considered one of the top goalkeepers in K League 1. He also played in national teams of all ages. He participated in major international competitions such as the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the 28th Gwangju Summer Universiade in 2015, the 2016 Asian Football Confederation U-23 Championship, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and the 2022 EAFF E-1 Championship (East Asian Cup).

During the three seasons in Jeju, he played 121 games for Jeju and allowed only 157 runs, with 32 clean sheets. Last season, he ranked second overall with 119 saves.

Kim Dong-joon supported his 1-0 victory by making six saves against Gimcheon, the first game he played immediately after signing the contract. Yuri Jonathan's penalty goal in the 14th minute of the second half remained the winning goal. Jeju, which lost three consecutive games and added three points, maintained its eighth place with 35 points. It narrowed the point gap to two points with Gwangju (37 points), the seventh-ranked team that lost to Daejeon on the same day, while widening the point gap to five points with Daegu (30 points), the lowest-ranked team in the direct relegation zone.
