Opening October 17th 'The Charity Classics 2024' Oh, there's no name for the sponsor company?
The first private company-sponsored golf competition in Korea, 'Oran Sea Open', will be reborn in 50 years as everyone's Charity Golf Competition 'The Charity Classics 2024'.

The 2024 Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour 'The Charity Classic 2024' (total prize money of 1 billion won, winning prize money of 200 million won) will be held at the Seolhaewon The Legend Course in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do for four days from October 17 to 20.

A total of 120 KPGA representative players, led by Park Sang-hyun (41, Dong-A Pharmaceutical), will compete for the first championship.

The 'The Charity Classics 2024' hosted by Dong-A Socio Group is based on the 'Oran Sea Open Golf Championship', which was held in 1976 by Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. with a total prize money of 1.5 million won, which was unprecedented at the time. At that time, the Oran Open was the first case of incorporating sports marketing into golf competitions, and it was an opportunity for many companies to participate as title sponsors of golf competitions.

'The Charity Classics 2024' to announce a new start in 2024 does not include the name of the sponsor Dong-A Socio Group.

The organizers explained that they expressed their will to fulfill the company's social responsibilities based on the philosophy of quality management and at the same time to make sincere contributions to society without including the name of the company in the name of the competition to keep the purpose of contributing to the development of men's professional golf in Korea.

To save the meaning of the donation, Dong-A Socio Group will contribute 1 billion won in donations, apart from 1 billion won in total prize money. Players who sympathized with the purpose of the tournament and the social meaning also decided to donate 10% of their respective prize money. Seol Hae-won, the venue of the tournament, also decided to join the donation. There are also auctions of cherished items and gallery donations. Donations to be collected in this way will be used to support pediatric patients and to develop the region.

An official from Dong-A Socio Group explained, `We plan to share the value of sharing and consideration through this competition and create a meaningful sports event where everyone grows together.'

In the past, Dong-A Socio Group has been striving to expand the base of Korean men's professional golf by hosting the KPGA Tour 'Oran Sea Open' and 'Pokari Sweat Open' and event tournaments 'Donga Pharmaceutical-Donga ST Championship'. Since 2005, it has been making continuous efforts to foster golf prospects through the amateur competition 'Bakkas Bae SBS Golf National City and Student Golf Team Championship'. In addition, he has been supporting Park Sang-hyun, the No. 1 prize money player in the KPGA Tour, for 10 years and continues to accompany him beautifully.
