Prior to the regular board meeting held at the Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 2nd, the association held a reward delivery ceremony and paid a total of 20 athletes and support teams dispatched to the Olympics.
Shin Yoo-bin (Korean Air), who won two bronze medals in the women's team event and mixed doubles, received a reward of 30 million won and a total of 150 million won. The reward was prepared in accordance with Olympic donations from sponsors of the Korea Table Tennis Association, including Shinhan Financial Group and Korean Air, and the association's own reward regulations.
At the Paris Olympics, the table tennis team recaptured the medal for the first time in 12 years since the men's team silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics when Lim Jong-hoon (Korea Exchange) and Shin Yoo-bin (Korean Air) won the mixed doubles bronze medal, and also won the bronze medal in the women's team event, featuring Shin Yoo-bin, Jeon Ji-hee (Mirae Asset Securities) and Lee Eun-hye (Korean Air). In addition to their grades, the men's and women's national teams were loved by the people for their fantastic teamwork, bright and elegant attitude, and fair play that respected the opponent. The association praised not only medalists, but also support teams such as coaching staff and compulsory trainers for their hard work together.
The men's and women's teams are preparing events that will continue the glory of the Olympics, including the Asian Table Tennis Championships in October and the mixed team event in Chengdu, China in December. Oh Kwang-heon, the head coach of the women's national team who received the reward on behalf of the team, said "The support of numerous people, including the president Yoo Seung Min and the staff of the association, and the support of the people were combined to achieve results at this Olympics. I will continue to play my best for Korean table tennis in any position" delivered his pledge.
