Kim Min-jae 'After the war of words with the fans of the Palestinian war, we reflect on our actions'

[Muscat (Pride) = Egan Sports Chosun Dotcom Reporter] Kim Min-jae apologized for having a war of words with fans after the Palestinian war.

The national soccer team will play Oman in Muscat, Oman on the afternoon of the 10th in the third qualifying match for the 2026 North-China World Cup in Asia. A day before this, an official press conference was held. Kim Min-jae appeared at the press conference as a representative of the players.

The topic was a clash with fans. After the draw against Palestine, Kim Min-jae asked fans to refrain from booing. There was a controversy over this process. Kim Min-jae said "I'm not wrong to say, but I think I'm wrong about my subsequent actions. I am reflecting on my actions."

◇ Q&A with Kim Min-jae

-My resolution for tomorrow's game is

▶ Since we didn't get the results we wanted at home, I think it's important to bring results first, although a little good performance is important in Awaew. I think we have to win by bringing the result unconditionally.

-I'm with Hong Myung-bo, the best defender in Korea

▶I'm glad that I can do it with a coach who did the best in Korea and has a long experience in the national team. I think it's good because the director can give me feedback right away on the parts that he advises me and what I lack. I'm trying to think carefully about what the coach says and do it on the field.

-I had a war of words with my fans after the Palestinian War

▶In Korea, I told you that I would go to the stands and ask for a favor. I don't have a problem with my mental side, and I think it's my fault for my relationship with the fans.

I don't think I did anything wrong with what I said. However, I am fully convinced that I was wrong enough about my subsequent actions. I read an article saying that the fans don't boo the Red Devils supporters, and I'm very thankful for that. I think I've done enough wrong with what I did and I'm reflecting on it.

-What style of centre-back do you prefer

▶I've played with a lot of players and not only Korean players but also foreign players, but in the end, we don't have much time to prepare for the national team game, so I think it's important for the coach to match the players who are starting or the players who are called up and trained by the national team in that short period of time.

Regardless of which player I play with, I may not be able to play as a starter. I can't predict how well I match it and now I'll start, but I think it's most important to communicate with the defender players as soon as possible and go on the field.

-After the Palestinian draw, negative public opinion arose

▶I don't think there's any negative public opinion, and I'm just preparing well for the game, so I don't think I have anything to say about that.

-What are the weather variables?

▶ Players play in many countries, some in Korea, some in foreign countries, and I was surprised that the weather was hotter and humid than I thought. It may affect the performance a little, but since the players have a lot of experience, I don't think it will be an excuse to bring out the results of the game, and I think they will be able to play well in training.
