Choi Jeong started as the third batter and third baseman in a home game against the NC Dinos at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 1st.
Choi Jeong played the third base defense normally in the top of the first inning. In the first inning, NC's No. 3 hitter Matt Davidson caught a grounder hit directly and distributed it to the first base, handling the last out count of the inning with a grounder to the third base.
However, in the bottom of the first inning, SSG attack has a chance to get on second base with one out. It was Choi Jeong's at-bat, the third batter, and the SSG bench sent out Ahn Sang-hyun as a pinch hitter. Ahn Sang-hyun was out with a grounder to third base on the first pitch.
Ahn Sang-hyun rushed to replace Choi Soon-jung as a substitute.
An official from the SSG club said "Choi Jung was replaced due to acute pain in his left back/back while swinging empty before entering the waiting at-bat. After checking the condition, we will decide whether or not to check the hospital."
