South Korea's national soccer team, led by head coach Hong Myung-bo, played the first Group B match against Palestine in the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup at Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 5th.
It was the first step in a new beginning. In July, South Korea took the helm of the A team to coach Hong Myung-bo 'Legend'. Coach Hong returned to the national team for the first time in 10 years since 2014. He made his first appearance against the Palestinians.
Coach Hong utilized the 4-2-3-1 formation. Joo Min-kyu stepped up as the front-line striker. Son Heung-min, Lee Jae-sung and Lee Kang-in helped from behind. Hwang In-beom and Jung Woo-young played defensive midfielders. Seol Young-woo, Kim Min-jae, Kim Young-kwon, and Hwang Moon-ki were located in Four Back. Cho Hyun-woo defended the goal.
What stood out was Seol's position. Seol played as a left fullback on the day. Seol Young-woo is originally a left fullback, but he was under Coach Hong to the right when he was in Ulsan. This is why I was able to play left and right at the Qatar Asian Games, which ended in February. Some even said that the fullback topography of this series could change depending on Seol Young-woo's position.
Seol Young-woo showed sharp movements while standing on the left side of the day. It certainly looked upgraded. Seol Young-woo took on a new challenge through the summer transfer market. After going through Ulsan, he advanced to the Serbian stage. He quickly settled down. In Zvezda, he played as a left fullback and already scored goals and help. He also helped advance to the European Champions League (UCL).

Seol joined the A team for the first time last year. It's only been about a year since I started wearing the national flag. However, he is growing every time he plays for A national team. Moreover, it showed a step up by entering Europe. He seemed to have filled a full-back spot, which was a concern for Korean soccer. However, Korean soccer was greatly embarrassed by the unexpected injury.
