Ohtani stole his 54th base of the season against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium on the 23rd (Korea time).
Ohtani stole second base after hitting a hit in the bottom of the third inning, trailing 0-4.
After one out, Kiké Hernández hit the right field. Ohtani, who entered the batter's box for the second time with one out and runners on first base, continued a close race with Colorado right-hander Antonio Senzatela until the full count, then pulled a low fastball in the middle of the sixth pitch and hit a single that ran through second baseman Brendan Rodgers to right field. It was a hard hit with a batting speed of 105.9 miles.
He then ran to second base while Senzatela's 87.4-mile slider on the fourth pitch went low at Mookie Betts' at-bat, making it safe with ease. He has helped steal for five consecutive games since the game against the Miami Marlins on the 19th, and has made 31 consecutive stolen base attempts since his 24th season against the San Francisco Giants on July 24.
With this, Ohtani marked 52 home runs and 54 steals, moving one step closer to the first 55-55 mark in history. He is also two shy of the most steals (56) in a season from Asia set by Ichiro Suzuki when he made his debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2001.
Betts gets a walk and takes a chance to load the bases with one outJuss failed to score because Freddie Freeman hit a double play to shortstop.
Ohtani hit from his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning, trailing 0-3. Against Senzatela, he pushed a fastball in the middle of the seventh pitch 96.1 miles on a full count, leading to a single that fell in front of left field. Betts then hit a heavy hit to get a chance on the first and second bases with no outs, but Freeman hit a double play on the second base, leaving Betts out of the second base, and Teoscar Hernandez struck out swinging, so the Dodgers couldn't pick a point.
In the fifth inning, trailing 1-4, Ohtani grounded out to the first base with two outs.
Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up five hits and three walks in three innings and allowed four runs. Yamamoto, who had adapted well with four innings and no earned run in two consecutive games after returning from a shoulder injury, had a poor ERA of 2.63 to 2.96.
