LG Twins veteran starter Lim Chan-kyu has a winning pitcher requirement in important games.
Lim Chan-kyu started in the second semi-playoff game against KT Wiz at Jamsil Stadium on the 6th and allowed seven hits, four strikeouts and two runs (one earned run) in five ⅓ innings, qualifying his first postseason start.
LG, which lost 2-3 in the first game the previous day, desperately needs to win the second game. Lim Chan-kyu, who has the best performance against KT this season, came out as the starter.
Lim Chan-kyu recorded 10-6-1 with a 3.83 ERA this season. After 14 wins last year, he recorded 10 wins for the second consecutive year for the first time since his debut. Although he failed to fill the regular innings by throwing 134 innings due to injury, he pitched stable pitching by activating ace mode in the second half.
In particular, the last-minute pitching was amazing. On August 9, he showed a shocking slump in allowing seven runs in two ⅔ against NC, but he played an ace in the second half with six quality starts and a 4-1 record and a 1.66 ERA in seven games. During this period, there was also KT. On August 27, he led the team to a 6-1 victory with three hits, three walks and six strikeouts in six innings.
Lim Chan-kyu was good not only at this time but also against KT this season. He was sluggish with six hits (one home run), five walks, four strikeouts and four runs in three ⅔ innings in Jamsil on April 5, his first appearance, but on May 17, Suwon became the winning pitcher with seven hits (one home run), two walks, five strikeouts and one run in five ⅓ innings, and on June 23, he became the winning pitcher with three hits (one home run), four walks, eight strikeouts and one run in five innings in Jamsil game. He was very stable with three wins, no losses and an ERA of 2.70 in four games against KT.
He also aimed to win his first postseason start.
Until last year, he took the mound six times in the postseason, and recorded one starting loss at once in relief. The ERA is 6.52.

After two outs in the top of the first inning, Jang Sung-woo was allowed a left-handed hit, but Lim Chan-kyu, who started without losing a point after catching Kang Baek-ho with a ground ball in front of the pitcher, gave up the first run in the top of the second inning. After two outs, Bae Jung-dae allowed a left-handed hit after a full-count game, but allowed Hwang Jae-kyun to steal second base at bat in the eighth. At this time, Park Dong-won's throw fell toward center field, and the allocation team advanced to third base. And Hwang Jae-kyun gave up his first run after getting a left-handed hit.
In the top of the third inning, he allowed consecutive hits to lead Kim Min-hyuk and Rojas, starting with a crisis of first and third bases with no outs. Jang Sung-woo was struck out swinging, but Kang Baek-ho allowed a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing one run. Moon Sang-chul was struck out swinging and finished the third inning with the least number of runs.
The game started from square one as LG tied 2-2 at the bottom of the third inning.
Lim Chan-kyu also cheered up. Lim Chan-kyu, who grounded out Kim Sang-soo in front of the shortstop and struck out the allocation table in the top of the fourth inning, allowed Hwang Jae-kyun a lucky hit, but handled Shim Woo-joon with a ground ball in front of the third base.
Lim Chan-kyu had a chance to win his first postseason start as he led 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with Park Dong-won's come-from-behind double and Moon Sung-joo's additional timely hit.
In addition, Lim Chan-kyu caught Kim Min-hyuk and Rojas Jang Sung-woo in the top of the fifth inning with three outs, and in the top of the sixth inning, he handled the lead Kang Baek-ho with a line drive to the third baseman. It seemed to end the sixth inning and go to the first quality start, but LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop decided to put in the bullpen quickly as he allowed No. 6 pinch hitter Chun Sung-ho to hit the heavy field. Lim Chan-kyu's mission ended as Eliaser Hernandez took the mound. Hernandez allowed the first batter Kim Sang-soo to hit the right field, allowing one out and runners on the first and second bases, but he handled Bae Jeong-dae and Hwang Jae-gyun with consecutive swing and miss strikeouts to maintain a 4-2 lead.
Lim Chan-kyu, who threw 92 pitches, threw 32 fastballs with a maximum speed of 146km, 32 changeups, 25 curves, and 3 sliders. The speed difference between the fastball and the curve was a whopping 47 kilometers.
