There was no victory in the 17th.

LG Twins Choi Won-tae was replaced early again.

Choi Won-tae started the first round of the playoffs against the Samsung Lions at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on the 13th, and showed sluggish performance with seven hits (two home runs) and three strikeouts and five runs in three innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Kim Young-woong hit a solo shot and replaced it with Yoo Young-chan at 1-5 down.

Choi Won-tae has experienced many post-seasons, but he has yet to win.

He experienced the semi-PO, PO, and Korean series in 2019 when he was at Kiwoom, played in the wild card game in 2021, and in the semi-PO, PO, and Korean series in 2022. In 2023, he will move to LG and play in the Korean Series.

Until last year, he pitched in a total of 15 postseason games and recorded one loss and one save without winning. His career ERA was 11.17, which was not good.

And he started in Game 3 of the semi-playoff against KT this year, but he did not win again this time. He allowed five hits, one walk and three runs (two earned) in two ⅔ innings and was substituted early.

Choi Won-tae was given another chance as LG advanced to the playoffs with a victory in the fifth round of the semi-PO.

Still, expectations were high this time. This is because Choi Won-tae was good against Samsung. In two games, he pitched, with one win, no loss, and an ERA of only 0.84.

He had relatively poor control with three hits, five walks and one out in four ⅔ innings in Jamsil on March 27, his first appearance this season, but he allowed two runs (one earned run) along with three strikeouts. At the Daegu game on April 25, he became the winning pitcher with two hits, two walks and three strikeouts in six innings.

LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop also said in the game "Choi Won-tae is a player with curves when he competes in pennant races, but the game against Samsung was a day when he was scratched." I'm looking forward to it. I think there's a good chance of (throwing well)" in anticipation.

However, expectations were dashed from the start of the first inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, he struck out the leadoff Kim Ji-chan, but allowed No. 2 Yoon Jung-bin to double on the right-field line, and Koo Ja-wook faced a crisis with one out and runners on first and third base due to an infield hit to the second baseman. First run after being hit by a sacrifice fly to center field by No. 4 Diaz.

In the bottom of the second inning, he allowed No. 8 Lee Jae-hyun to hit the right field with two outs, but he struck out No. 9 Ryu Ji-hyuk with a swing and miss and finished scoreless.

He sought stability, but lost again in the third inning when he faced the top lineup. Leading Kim Ji-chan and Yoon Jung-bin received consecutive hits to the right, making them runners on first and third bases with no outs. And Koo Ja-wook hit a three-run shot over the right-center fence. In 1B1S, a 138km cutter on the third pitch went into the high course in the middle and became a home run.

Afterwards, Choi Won-tae, who passed the third inning by blocking three batters well, went up to the bottom of the fourth inning with Oh Ji-hwan's solo shot in the top of the fourth inning, but was withdrawn after a home run by Kim Young-woong.

He came to LG as a 'winning contractor' and his postseason at LG was even worse. In the second game of last year's Korean Series, he allowed two hits and two walks in ⅓ innings without exceeding one inning, and in the fourth game, he came up in the bottom of the ninth inning with a 15-3 lead, giving up two walks and allowing one run in one inning.

And he never lasted four innings, let alone five, in a total of three starts until the third round of this semi-PO and the first round of this day's PO. His postseason career performance at LG has a whopping 15.43 ERA with 12 earned runs in seven innings in four games.
