'9 minutes of extra time, Tong-han's theater equalizer' Shin Tae-yong's team drew a disappointing draw against Bahrain

Indonesia's national soccer team, led by head coach Shin Tae-yong, narrowly missed the three points they secured in Bahrain's away game.

Indonesia drew 2-2 on the 11th (Korea time) by giving up a theater equalizer against Bahrain in the third Group C match of the Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup at Bahrain National Stadium.

Indonesia allowed Bahrain's Mohamed Marhun to score the first free-kick in the 15th minute of the first half, but Ragnar Oratmangoen pushed in the equalizer in the extra time of the first half. After finishing the first half 1-1 in the 29th minute of the second half, Rafael Struijk shook the net with a right-footed curl from the left side of the penalty box to make a 2-1 turnaround. Bahrain's theatrical goal came in the 9th minute of extra time in the second half, when Shin Tae-yong was sure of winning. Marhun scored an equalizer from a corner kick, and the two teams tied 2-2. Indonesia, which added one point, finished fifth among the six teams with three consecutive draws in Group C of the third qualifying round. In Group C, China fell to the bottom of the group with three consecutive losses of 1-3 against second-place Australia (4 points), and Japan (9 points) defeated Saudi Arabia (2-0 points) to remain at the top of the group.

Meanwhile, Iraq, which competes with South Korea for the lead in the group, won 1-0 with Aymen Hussein's winning goal in the 31st minute of the first half in the third Group B match against Palestine on the 11th (Korea time). Iraq scored seven points alongside South Korea, which won 2-0 against Jordan, but is in second place with two goals behind in goal difference.
