Asia E-Sports Industry Support Center will lead global e-sports culture exchanges with the GECE project!

The Asia Esports Industry Support Center announced that it will develop Gwangju Metropolitan City into an e-sports center through the GECE (Global Esports Culture Exchange) project, which is being promoted in earnest this year.

GECE is a project in which students, athletes, and communities majoring in e-sports at home and abroad participate to exchange e-sports culture and form a global network.

As part of this, players from Taiwan's Cheongsu University and Hong Kong e-Sports Association will play with players from Gwangju Technical High School, Gwangju Natural Science High School, and Dongil Future Science High School in Gwangju on the 23rd. The event is organized by the Asia Esports Industry Support Center, hosted by the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and sponsored by Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Kim Hyun-woo, head of the Asia Esports Industry Support Center (Director of Foreign Cooperation at Chosun University), stressed that the "GECE project is a great contributor to Gwangju's growth as a center of esports, and this friendly match is an important opportunity for cultural exchange and international development of esports."

Starting with attending this year's first GECE in Taiwan and Mongolia, 20 students from Taiwan in the second event and 30 students from Taiwan and Hong Kong in the third event recently held. Through this, it is expected to increase the tourism effect of Gwangju Metropolitan City and contribute to the development of the e-sports industry, the support center said.

The Asia Esports Industry Support Center emphasized that it will continue to promote various programs and events for the development of the e-sports industry and continue to promote global esports culture exchanges through the GECE project.
