'Battlegrounds'E-Sports Domestic Competition'2024 PWS Phase 2', Kwangdong Prix 2nd consecutive game


Krafton announced that it has successfully completed the '2024 PUBG Weekly Series (PWS) Phase 2' of the 'Battleground' esports domestic professional competition.

The 2024 PWS Phase 2 is a competition in which a total of 16 teams, including 12 professional teams and four teams selected from the official amateur competition 'Pubg Level Up Series (PLS) 2024 Phase 2', compete for the best position in Korea in the second half of the year.

The Weekly Stage was held online for three weeks from September 21 to October 6, and the grand final was held from October 11 to 13 at the Vita 500 Coliseum in Jamsil, Seoul.

As a result of the competition, Kwangdong Frix, consisting of 'Gyu-min' Shim Kyu-min, 'Heaven' Kim Tae-sung, 'Salut' Woo Je-hyun, 'Bin' Oh Won-bin, and 'Header' Cha Ji-hoon, won the final championship with a total of 4 chicken, 163 points. With the victory of this competition, Kwangdong Fricks won the 2024 PWS Phase 1 championship in the first half of this year, and they also broke their own record of winning the most PWS championships with six times, proving themselves to be the strongest professional team in Korea 'Battlegrounds' e-sports.

Guangdong Fricks maintained the lead for three days in the grand final with brilliant teaching power and battlefield understanding, achieving a 'Wire to Wire' victory. After leading with 63 points on the first day, the second day was the only team among the 16 teams to surpass the 100-point mark, widening the gap with second place to 22 points. On the 3rd day, he was chased by the second-place team by up to 12 points, but he added two chicken to lift the trophy by an overwhelming 34 points.

Fricks won 40 million won in prize money, and Kim Tae-sung was selected as MVP after 2024 PWS Phase 1 and became the winner of 5 million won in prize money. Kim Tae-sung recorded 25 kills, 16 assists and 4,851 cumulative damages in 15 matches in the grand final.

Meanwhile, depending on the results of this competition, the top three teams in the 'Pubg Global Championship (PGC)' points, Guangdong Freaks, T1, and Gen.G., will advance to the top international competition PGC 2024, which will be held in December.

Meanwhile, at the international competition 'PUBG Global Series 5.6' that will open on the 21st, Guangdong Freaks, GNL e-Sports, T1, and Gen.G will play as the first to third teams in the 2024 PWS Phase 21 and 'Global Partner Team', respectively. If one of these four teams finishes PGS 5·6 and a team in the final 8th place of 'PGS Points', domestic teams will be given additional qualification for PGC 2024.
