Choi Yoon-kyum, who was the first coach of Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju, voluntarily resigned.

Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju, which took the K-League 2 stage for the first time last year, broke the expectations of soccer officials in its first year and reached the playoff spot. Unfortunately, it was ranked eighth, but it was definitely an impressive achievement. Among the K League 1 and 25 clubs, it ranked third in efficient operation compared to the budget, showing an unexpected appearance even with a small budget.

He cruised this season with a strong defense. However, after Giorgi and Peter left, they showed problems in attack and had difficulty accumulating points. In particular, it went downhill after failing to make a win for two months from August. Some fans complained, and the team was also in disarray.

In the end, Choi made a decision. Choi said, `The professional world is bound to be cold. The club's budget and insufficient facilities are all excuses. As a coach in charge of the team, I have to perform for no reason. It takes a lot of time for Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju to raise players on a budget and produce results, but fans do not wait for such a club situation. That's the reality,' he said. "'We need to change if the club is to grow one step further, and now is the time. I hope Chungcheongbuk-do residents, Cheongju citizens and fans will know the club's weak situation,' he said.

Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju, where head coach Choi stepped down, plans to end the season with an acting system. Head coach Kwon Oh-kyu will take the helm instead. Acting Kwon is from Cheongju and played in Cheongju until his freshman year at Unho High School. Since then, acting Kwon, who played in Seongnam at the time after passing through Soongsil University, is a leader who laid the foundation in Cheongju, and also served as the head coach of Cheongju FC, which is the predecessor of Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, in 2018.

Acting director Kwon said, `I want to finish the 2024 season well by mobilizing all my experience as a leader and all the capabilities learned from Coach Choi"I'm not good enough, but I'll do my best"I am determined.
