Ohtani, who played as a designated hitter for the leadoff, hit one hit, RBI and two walks in three at-bats, and Mookie Betts hit a first home run, making the table setter win for the first time in a long time.

After Ohtani grounded out to second base in the top of the first inning, the Dodgers took the lead by hitting a solo home run by the next batter, Betts. Betts hit a 98.7-mile fastball in the middle of full-count San Diego starter Dylan Sheese's sixth pitch over the middle fence. Betts' second home run of the postseason following a solo shot to the left in the first inning of Game 3 on the previous day with a launch angle of 27 degrees, a batting speed of 102.5 miles and a flying distance of 401 feet.

set the toneJuss added two runs in the second inning to gain momentum. After one out, Ohtani hit a timely hit in a chance with two outs and runners on the first and third bases with Gavin Lux's walk, Kike Hernandez's heavy hit, and Chris Taylor's strikeout. He pulled Sizz's 84.8-mile-out sweeper and connected it with a single that flowed next to first base and in front of right field, bringing Lux home. It was a shot that replaced Sizu.

Then, with the opposing pitcher changing to right-hander Brian Hoying, Betts hit a right-handed hit to widen the gap to 3-0.

San Diego's Xander Bogaerts walked with a full count after two outs in the bottom of the second inning, and David Peralta hit a heavy hit to take the opportunity to first and second base, but Jake Cronenworth failed to score because of a fly ball to shortstop.

The Dodgers widened the gap to 5-0 in the top of the third inning with Will Smith's two-run shot. Smith, who entered the batter's box after leading Max Muncy hit a right double, hit a body sinker in the middle of Hoying's 94.4 miles to well over the middle fence. Smith's first home run of the postseason with a 432-foot home run.

San Diego also created a chance with Fernando Tatis Jr.'s double in the middle of the third inning after two outs, but Jurickson Profar was out on a fly and could not save it.

Since then, the Dodgers have rarely scored additional points.

After one out in the top of the fourth inning, the Dodgers picked up a straight walk from the opponent's left-hander Adrian Morehorn and got another chance. Ohtani was safe by tagging up to second base when Betts stepped down with a deep fly to center field. He created a scoring position by banking on his fast feet and judgment ability with 59 steals during the regular season.

But I was too greedy. The next batter, Teoscar Hernandez, passed the left side of the third baseman and stopped after hitting the arm of Mark Reaper's third base center, who declared a pair, but was tagged out. A situation in which he could have scored if he had not been hit by the third base and flowed into the foul area.

Ohtani did not see the ball hit the third base and ignored the third base coach's stop signal and rushed home. Manager Dave Roberts was caught on the broadcast screen expressing deep regret.

San Diego regained the first and second base chances with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning with a right-handed hit by the leadoff David Peralta and a walk by Cronenworth, but all three subsequent hitters stepped down as miscues and failed to score again.

In the sixth inning with a 5-0 lead, Ohtani got on base with a walk after a persistent game from the opponent's right-hander Jeremiah Estrada to the ninth pitch, but Betts was out with a fly ball and the inning ended.

However, the Dodgers got on base after Muncy went out with a pitch after one out and Smith got on base while opposing shortstop Bogaerts made an error that put the ball through his crotch and took the chance to first and third bases. Tommy Edman's bunt Muncy then homered to add one point. Lux then scored a superior two-run shot and widened the gap to 8-0 to seal the victory.

San Diego's starting pitcher Seeds gave up four hits and one walk, including one home run, and allowed three runs in one ⅔ inning. In the first game, he allowed six hits and five runs in three ⅓ innings, but he also showed difficulty in taking the mound after a three-day break. In total, he allowed 10 hits and 8 runs in five innings in two games, with a 14.40 ERA.

On the other hand, the Dodgers countered with bullpen day, with eight pitchers, including starters Ryan Brazier, Anthony Banda, Michael Kopech, Alex Vesia, Evan Phillips, Daniel Hudson, Blake Trinen and Landon Ngak, tied the San Diego lineup to six hits and no runs.
