The Kansas City Royals brought the game to square one.

Kansas City defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 in Game 2 of the American League (AL) Division Series at Yankee Stadium on the 8th (Korea time).

Kansas City, which knelt 5-6 in the first game on the 6th, will go home with a 1-1 series record.

Games 3 and 4 between the two teams will be held at Kansas City's home Kauffman Stadium on the 10th and 11th.

Kansas City, which entered the postseason with 86 wins and 76 losses in the regular season and second place in the AL wild card series, advanced to the division series after overwhelming the Baltimore Orioles with two wins in the wild card series. The Yankees, who went straight to the division series with 94 wins and 68 losses in the regular season and ranked first in the AL winning percentage, failed to continue their momentum to come from behind in the first game.

Kansas City starter Collegins pitched well with three hits and one run in four innings, but failed to fill the fifth inning. Yankees starter Carlos Rodo lost the game by allowing four runs after getting seven hits in three ⅔ innings.

Yankees twin guns Juan Soto and Aaron Judge went 0-for-3 with one hit and one walk, respectively. Both players have yet to hit home runs or RBI in two games of the Division Series.

The Yankees scored the first run with Giancarlo Stanton's shortstop hit with two outs and runners on first and second in the bottom of the third inning, but Kansas City turned the tide by making a big inning with five hits in the top of the fourth inning.

Leading Salvador Perez hit a slider in the middle of Rodon to tie it 1-1 over the left fence. Yuli Gurriel then hit a left-handed hit, went to second base on Rodon's wild pitch, and homered during Tommy Pham's heavy hit to turn the tables 2-1.

Kansas City widened the gap to 4-1 with Garrett Hampson's left-handed hit and Maikel Garcia's right-handed hit in succession with two outs and second base. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Yankees frequently cut off the flow, with Austin Wells hitting a double play by shortstop and Stanton hitting a double play by shortstop with one out in the eighth inning.

The Yankees made up for one point in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jaz Chisom Jr. hit a superior solo home run, but the game was on the decline.

Until the second game, both leagues' division series were close with one win and one loss. In Game 2 of the Division Series earlier on the day, the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-0 and avenged a 0-7 complete defeat in Game 1.

In the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres exchanged 1-1 losses, and the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets exchanged 1-1 losses.

In the all-time division series in the format of '2-2-1', 29 of 44 times have taken the series by a team that went home with a 1-1 win on the road. In other words, Kansas City, Detroit, San Diego and the Mets have gained advantages. The four teams that advance to the League Championship Series may be decided in the aspect of the upsets.
