Cesinha won the "EA SPORTS K League Player of the Month" award in September sponsored by K League official video game partner Electronic Arts. At the September Player of the Month Award, based on his performance in the 29-32 rounds of the K League held in the month, Cesinha was honored by beating Lee Dong-kyung (Kim Chun), Lee Chang-geun (Daejeon), and Jorge (Pohang). Cesinha won his sixth career Player of the Month award with this award. This is the most-ever winner of this month's Player of the Month award.
Cesinha won the honor by ranking first in the federation's TSG Technical Committee voting, K-League fan voting, and FC online user voting. 'Player of the Month' selects a candidate group through voting (60%) by the Federation TSG Technical Committee among MOM (Gyeonggi Training Player), Best Eleven, and MVP of the month-long K League 1 match. After that, K-League fan voting (25%) and EA SPORTS™ FC Online user voting (15%) will be conducted for candidates selected by the TSG Technical Committee, and the player with the highest converted score by adding three items will receive the 'Player of the Month'.
Cesinha scored one goal in the 30th round against Jeju, leading his team to a 4-0 victory, followed by two consecutive equalizers in the 31st round against Seoul and 32nd round against Gangwon, saving the team from defeat. As a result, Cesinha was selected as the best 11 of the round in 31 and 32 consecutive rounds. Daegu, with Cesinha's performance at the forefront, is currently ranked 9th out of the relegation zone.
Cesinha is the best crack in the K-League, making his K-League debut in 2016 wearing a Daegu uniform and performing outstandingly every year. He also scored 11 goals and seven assists this season, ranking second in K League 1 in the most offensive points.
Cesinha, who is having his best season, will receive the prize along with the Player of the Month trophy.
