Where is Gyeongnam FC going.

Gyeongnam has made major changes ahead of this season. Coach Park Dong-hyuk has been appointed as the new head coach. Expectations were high. Park has drawn attention as a young leader with skills. In 2018, he made his debut as the youngest manager in the K League by taking the helm of K League 2 'Military Police Team' Asan Mugunghwa. He won the K League 2 title that year and won the Coach of the Year award. In 2020, he was appointed as the coach of Chungnam Asan, which was founded as a civic team, and led the team for four seasons until last year.

He was reeling even before the opening. Rodrigo Rivas, an ambitious foreign player, left the team early due to lack of skills. In addition, some of the recruits were unable to play, let alone train, due to injuries. There have been accusations of lack of scouting ability.

The season's curtain has risen. Gyeongnam beat Ansan Greeners 2-1 in the opening game. However, they lost to Busan I'Park by a score of 1-4. 'Ace' Won Ki-jong entered the army and faced the worst. Gyeongnam made a breakthrough through the summer transfer market. Midfielder Park Han-bin, striker Dongjin Park and Brazilian Philippe Fonseca have been recruited. However, there was no expected turnaround. In the end, coach Park gave up the baton nine months after his inauguration. Gyeongnam said goodbye to coach Park on September 13. Gyeongnam ranked 12th out of 13 teams in the K League 2 with 5 wins, 10 draws and 12 losses (25 points) under coach Park. In particular, he was very sluggish with five draws and two losses in seven games before coach Park quit. The separation process was not smooth either. Amid various noises, head coach Kwon Woo-kyung will lead Gyeongnam as an acting coach.

Gyeongnam played five games in the absence of the head coach. He only recorded three draws and two losses (three points). South Gyeongsang still remains in 12th place. However, news of the appointment of a new head coach is still unknown. Regardless of professional and amateur, some names of former and current coaches are going up and down, but nothing has been decided. Under these circumstances, some Gyeongnam officials are known to have traveled abroad, including Brazil, to select foreign players next season.

According to the Korea Football Association, head coach Kwon does not have a P-level leadership certificate. The certificate is Grade 1 (Grade A). It is not even on the list of P-level leaders currently in progress. According to the Korea Professional Football Federation, if there is a vacancy in the job, a person who meets the relevant qualifications must take over within 60 days. If a match is played without registering a qualified 'first team coach' even after more than 60 days from the date of the vacancy, a fine of 10 million won per game will be imposed on the team. However, Gyeongnam has no remaining games at 60 days after the manager's vacancy. However, according to the club licensing regulations, the official manager must be registered by December 31. Otherwise, club licensing will be deprived.
