KBO selected and announced Koo Ja-wook as the MVP from September to October on the 11th. Koo Ja-wook received as many as 29 (96.7%) of the 30 press corps votes, and received 221,373 votes (56.0%), more than half of the 395,194 votes, winning a total score of 76.34 points, beating LG Hong Chang-ki, who ranked second with a total score of 6.14 points.
Koo Ja-wook won the monthly MVP for the first time in 12 years since joining the professional league in 2012.
This is the most points scored by a monthly MVP this year. MVP Kim Do-young (64.71 points), MVP Kwak Bin (49.04 points) in May, MVP Kim Do-young (34.54 points), MVP Kang Min-ho (40.24 points) in July, MVP Austin (29.06 points) in August were selected, but the total score was lower than that of Koo Ja-wook. That means there were competitors.
Samsung wrapped up the season against the LG Twins on September 28, so there was no game in October. During the month of September, Koo Ja-wook showed tremendous performance. He played four-hit games against Hanwha in Daejeon on the 11th and KT in Suwon on the 19th, recording 29 hits in 58 at-bats and a batting average of 500 in a month, ranking first alone in the batting average category.
In addition, he finished the season with the best performance, ranking first and second in various offensive indicators, including nine home runs (1st), 24 RBIs (1st), 18 runs (2nd), an on-base percentage of 0.559 (1st), a slugging percentage of 1.017 (1st), and an OPS of 1.576 (1st).
Amid his last-minute performance, Koo Ja-wook had his best season this season, ranking within the top 10 in seven batting categories, including a batting average of 343 (4th), 33 home runs (5th), 115 RBIs (4th), an on-base percentage of 0.417 (4th), a slugging percentage of 0.627 (3rd), 169 hits (8th), and 92 points (10th).
In particular, he succeeded in capturing both accuracy and slugging power by scoring 30 to 30 home runs and 100 RBIs for the first time since his debut.
Koo Ja-wook, who was selected as MVP from September to October, will be given a trophy along with 2 million won in prize money, and 2 million won in donations will be delivered to Kyungbok Middle School, Koo Ja-wook's alma mater, under the player's name with the support of Shinhan Bank.
