'The trend these days'Chelsea' Cole Palmer (22, Chelsea) confessed that it was a very difficult decision to leave Manchester City.

In an interview with British broadcaster `ITV' on the 13th (local time), Palmer said the decision to leave Manchester City was gambling. Because I didn't know what I was going to be or which team I was going to go to. People advised me to 'go there, not here, go here, but I followed the sound of my heart and made my own decision'

"And you know, I did it."

The interviewer said 'That's cool. So the Chelsea transfer is difficult, but was it the right decision? Or was it a life-changing decision? When I asked '," the transfer was a decision that changed my life," he replied. Palmer said "Leaving Manchester, where I was born and raised, away from familiar people, and of course (leaving Manchester City) in terms of football meant it was different in many ways."

Palmer, who was called one of the three Manchester City youth leaders, joined Manchester City Youth in 2010 when he was eight years old and honed his soccer dream of reaching the Etihad Stadium for 10 years.

Palmer, who made his dream A-team debut at the behest of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in 2020, appeared to be slowly establishing himself in the first team by playing 25 games, including the cup tournament in the 2022-2023 season.

However, on the last day of the summer 2023 transfer window, Palmer made a surprise move to Chelsea. Guardiola did not hide his disappointment, saying he did not expect Palmer to leave Manchester City.

Palmer decided that he needed to play many games right away in order to grow further. In Manchester City, he played in just 41 games and scored only six goals in three seasons. It was difficult to compete in Manchester City, where prominent second-line resources such as Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardu Silva, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden hold out.

Going to Chelsea has changed everything. Palmer showed his talent in a Chelsea jersey. In the 2023-2024 season, he scored 22 goals in the English Premier League, 25 goals including the Cup, and 15 assists (45 games). He won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award and the England Player of the Year Award one after another. He entered the 2024-2025 season and scored five goals during the month of September to win the Player of the Month award in September.

Palmer is establishing himself as a regular for the England national team based on this performance. He started in a European Nations League match against Finland on the 14th and led his team to a 3-1 victory.
