Judge played as the third center fielder in Game 5 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee Stadium on the 31st (Korea time) and fired a home run in his first at-bat.
After one out in the bottom of the first inning, the Yankees got on base with Juan Soto walking a full count from Dodgers starter Jack Fleherty. Judge, who entered the batter's box with one out and runners on first base, pushed a 93.7 mile fastball that penetrated the center of Fleherty's first pitch well over the right fence.
The ball, which flew at a launch angle of 28 degrees and a speed of 108.9 miles (175 kilometers), was stuck in the middle of the right outfield seat and at a distance of 403 feet (123 meters). Nearly 50,000 fans who filled Yankee Stadium stood up in unison and cheered and went wild.
It is a thrilling cannon hit by Judge, who is on the World Series stage for the first time in his life this year, in five games and 19 at-bats. It is the first time in 13 days and 7 games that Judge hit a home run since his superior two-run shot in the eighth inning of Game 3 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on the 18th.
The Yankees went on to take a 3-0 lead with a back-to-back home run, with fourth batter Jazz Chisom Jr. hitting a solo home run to right-center.
On the other hand, LA Dodgers Shohei Ohtani stepped down with a short fly to center field in his first at-bat in the top of the first inning. Yankees starter Gerrit Cole pitched a hitless and scoreless pitch until the second inning.
