The Korea Sports Science Institute, which was built right next to the Taeneung Training Center in 1980 and supported the growth and heyday of elite sports through close support for sports science, ended the 44-year-old Taeneung era and entered the Olympic Park era. The new building of the Sports Science Institute is a space used by the Korea Sports Association and the National Sports Promotion Agency until last year. The existing Olympic Cultural Center was remodeled with a total project cost of 7.2 billion won.
In 2008, at the request of the Cultural Heritage Administration to restore the royal tomb of Joseon, there was a request for cooperation in relocation, and the relocation of Olympic Park was discussed with the National Sports Promotion Agency. Starting with a feasibility study for the relocation of Olympic Park in 2017, it received permission to change the use of urban planning facilities in Seoul in July last year, and the remodeling work was completed this year and the relocation was completed in August after the industrial complex and sports association moved to the new Olympic Hall last year. With a two-story scale on the ground, it has expanded and innovated not only office space, but also sports physiology, epidemiological laboratories, and research space, enabling tighter support for sports science.
