Korea's Wheelchair Curling Team Wins Scottish International Competition

'This momentum goes all the way to Milan!'

The Korean national wheelchair curling team won the Scottish Stirling International Championship, which was part of overseas training, with all seven wins, brightening the prospects for next year's World Championship and the 2026 Milan Winter Paralympics.

The national team, consisting of Yoon Hee-kyung, Nam Bong-kwang, Cha Jin-ho, Yang Hee-tae and Lee Hyun-chul, performed better than expected at the Stirling International Wheelchair Curling Competition in Stirling, Scotland on the 19th (Korea Standard Time). A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament, and Korea won all seven games and won. The highlight was the final match against Scotland, the home team. South Korea won a thrilling come-from-behind victory by scoring two points in the final end after a fierce neck-and-neck race. It is a scene where the national team players' near-perfect cooperation and concentration stand out.



The tournament was part of a 29-day overseas tour schedule and was held as part of off-season training in preparation for the World Championships in March 2025. The participating teams are mostly made up of national teams. The Korean team's confidence increased thanks to its solid teamwork and personal skills in competition with strong teams.

Earlier, the Korean national team was in good condition during the overseas training camp, ranking second in the Swiss Wetchcon International Competition.



Cho Yang-hyun, coach of the national wheelchair curling team, said, `I am grateful to the players for their overall performance in testing and training to strengthen the team,' adding, `It was a good test in preparation for the 2025 World Championship. I think it was a good opportunity for the team to gain confidence. I will do my best to make a good performance at the World Championships."

Yoon Kyung-sun, president of the Curling Association for the Disabled, said, `I am very proud of the achievements made by the players, and the association will continue to provide support and support.
