Following Gen.G, Hanwha Life Insurance and T1 all confirmed their advance to the quarterfinals of the LOL World Cup.

In the fourth round of the '2024 League of Legends World Championship' (Lold Cup) Swiss Stage (16th round) held at Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany, Hanwha Life Insurance defeated LCS' Flyquest 2-1 and T1 defeated LEC's G2 2-0 respectively to advance to the quarterfinals.

Hanwha Life struggled quite a bit against an opponent who was considered weak, while defending champion T1 overwhelmed strong team G2 and showed off his prowess as the fifth LOL World Cup challenger in history. In particular, through this match, T1's 'Faker'Lee Sang-hyuk, the world's top star, set an unprecedented record of winning 100 career wins (based on the set) for the first time in the LOL World Cup.

With Gen.G already in the quarterfinals with all three wins, LCK (Korea) continued its super strength as the two teams followed. If D-Plus Kia, which has two wins and two losses, beats LPL's Weibo Gaming in the fifth round, South Korea will be one step closer to winning the championship by reaching the quarterfinals in all four teams following 2022.

China, Korea's top rival, also reached the quarterfinals with 3 wins and 1 loss after TES beat D-Plus in the fourth round following LNG of all three games. Following Weibo's meeting with D-plus in the fifth round, Bilibili Gaming will meet LEC's G2 and play a best-of-three match to try to advance to the last eight.

Meanwhile, with LCK and LPL continuing to dominate among the world's four major leagues, LCS will save face by drawing a match as the No. 1 seed Flyquest and No. 2 seed TL played 'Civil War' in the fifth round and the winning team reached the quarterfinals. On the other hand, despite the tournament being held in the home area, LEC is on the verge of failing to produce a team that will advance to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year following last year if G2, which survived until the fifth round, loses to Bilibili.

In addition, all six teams from the Asia-Pacific, Vietnam, Brazil, and Latin America lost in the round of 16, and regional polarization continued in this tournament. The quarterfinals match will be decided on the 14th when the fifth round ends. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be moved to Paris, France, on the 17th-20th and 26th-27th (Korean time), respectively.
