Elling Holan achieved a ransom of 200 million euros (about 292 billion won) for the second time in football history.
Soccer statistics media outlet Transfer Markt announced a new ransom for active players in the English Premier League (EPL) in the 2024-2025 season on the 1st (Korea time).
The most noticeable change was Holan. Holan originally had a ransom of 180 million euros (about 262.8 billion won), forming a superstar 'Sada Heavenly King' with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham.
But now all the players are under Holan. Holan, which rose about 11% of its previous ransom, rose to a whopping 200 million euros. At this point, there is no player in the world who is more expensive than Holan. As a result, Holan became the second player to reach the 200 million-euro mark after Mbappe broke the 200 million-euro mark in December 2018.
As Holan was somewhat sluggish in the 2023-2024 season, there was no additional increase in ransom. Compared to the 2022-2023 season, the individual title secured last season was not big except for the top scorer of the EPL. Manchester City only lost the league again. Holan also failed to participate in Euro 2024, so he had no points to raise his ransom.
At the start of the 2024-2025 season, Holan began his start for the best season of his life by scoring 10 goals in five league games. Holan is breaking his own record again. Because he was only born in 2000, Holan still has more growth value.
For the time being, Holan's era is likely to continue. The only variable that can prevent Holan now seems to be injury. That's how much more destructive it has become.
So far, there is no player who can check Holan, who has achieved 200 million euros. This is because Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius, the three Real Madrid guns, are not performing as well as Holan at the beginning of the season. If Manchester City and Real clash in the second half of the season in the second half of the European Champions League (UCL), it is expected that the four players' pride fight will take place properly.
With the exception of Holan, recent trends of superstars such as Cole Palmer, Luis Diaz, Gabriel Magalyangis and Kai Havertz have also risen in value. Darwin Núñez, Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Martinelli were among the losers.
