The KT club officially announced Park Kyung-soo's retirement from active duty on the 18th. Park Kyung-soo, who debuted as a professional player with the LG Twins in 2003, moved to KT through an FA contract ahead of the 2015 season and has been a key player and leader of the team for 10 years. He played in 2043 professional games and recorded a batting average of 249, 161 home runs, 719 RBIs, and 727 points, and in the Korean Series in the 2021 season, he led the team to its first championship and won the MVP award.
Park Kyung-soo's sincere self-management and attitude as a professional player became a model for his juniors. He also devoted himself to leading the team while being captain for six of his 10 years as a player at KT (2016-2018, 2022-2024).

His retirement was somewhat foreseen. He had not played at all since he played in the first five games of the season. However, Park silently supported his juniors from behind and fired. During training sessions, he threw batting balls nonstop, and he was with the team and gave various advice. While KT had a miraculous season from bottom to fifth this season, Park Kyung-soo also shared all those emotions.

Park Kyung-soo's tearful look at the stands on the ground after the last regular-season home game was a hot topic, but he had already decided to retire. Park Kyung-soo, who also served as the eldest brother while accompanying the team in the postseason, is now designing a second life, not a baseball player.
Meanwhile, Park's retirement ceremony is scheduled to take place early next season. The exact date of the retirement ceremony is still under discussion with the player, but it will be held in April, the beginning of the opening.
